I have never skipped going to shrines to pray for happiness and good health on New Year’s off, except for the time I stayed in Canada.
I really love it.
Reflecting your past year and yourself is important, and praying for yourself, your loving people and the world is so nice.
My family always goes to three shrines during those days.
That’s my family’s tradition.
It is called “Sansha-mairi”, right?
When I entered the university and talked with my friend about it, she was surprised at this habit.
She said “always three”?
She is Japanese. So, of course, she goes to a shrine or temple on New Year’s holiday.
Her surprising point was the number “three”.
But I did’t get it at that time because it was really natural for me.
Is it only in Kyusyu?
Actually, I lived in Kyoto in my university days.
